Welcome to Year 6 – an exciting and important final year of primary school! This year, we’ll be completing the Key Stage 2 curriculum to ensure your child is fully prepared for the transition to secondary school. In May, the children will take their SATs, and we’ll work together to make sure they feel confident and well prepared. A highlight of the year will be our residential trip to Fairthorne Manor – a fantastic week filled with adventure, team-building, and unforgettable memories. It’s going to be a brilliant year!
Welcome to Year 6
Meet your Teacher!
My name is Mr Prosser and I will be your class teacher for your final year at Red Barn!
This will be my first year teaching at your school, so hopefully you can all show me around and help me settle in to the Red Barn ways. Don’t worry though - you are in safe hands with me as I have taught Year 6 for the past two years at my current school. I will help you feel as prepared as possible for your SATs tests and I’m sure we will have lots of fun on the way!
I am really looking forward to the residential trip. Outside of school, swimming is my biggest hobby. By the time I was a teenager, I was training 7-8 times per week. I now swim a couple of times a week and also coach swimming at a local club.
One of my favourite things is coffee - I try and treat myself every Friday morning to a Costa on the way into school. Chocolate is one of my favourite foods. My favourite takeaway is an Indian, however, I do love to go to an Italian restaurant.
I live at home with my partner, Emily, and we are in the process of moving house! We don’t currently have any pets but I would LOVE a dog one day!
Next year, we will cover so many exciting topics, from the Ancient Maya in history to creating steady hand games in D&T. I am sure that some of you are very into role play, singing and dancing, so you can already start to look forward to next year’s end of year production!
